I had the pleasure of being courtside for a cool fashion show at Howard University the other night. It was a very well put together event with good music, good themes, and very talented models. Also ran into two good friends of Da Fam, Fresco & Matt. Below are some photos of the event courtesy of both of them.
I’ve been doing this blogging thing for a year now and I don’t really get into my fam much but I have to put everyone on to my cousin Iyabo. She’s a model and she’s really doing her thing. In this business everyday you run into aspiring models but a lot of times it’s just girls who take one or two pics and think some how that makes them the next Naomi. Iyabo really puts in her work and does shoots of all kinds. She’s been featured in many different publications and also several fashion shows. Not to mention she’s also an engineer, used to play high school basketball and an overall good person. She’s doing the thing!
Remember me ranting and raving last week about being excited about talent again? Here’s one of the reasons why.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kenyatta’s manager Rasheid about two weeks ago where he shared with me some of the music. Kenyatta Fiya is a dancehall/reggae artist originally from Jamaica and his music is great in my opinion.
I really encourage everyone to check him out. DJ’s especially.
The Famous Firm, Marked Music, and Rowdy Records present the fifth and final video off Colin Munroe’s Unsung Hero mixtape album. The album has been a complete success thanks to all of you and expect a lot of bigger and better things from Colin in the near future. Like the immediate future actually; he’s hosting Subtarranean on MTV2 tonight. Check your local listings.
Colin and Young Buck are sharing the front page of imeem this morning. It’s for the song “I’m Fine” produced by Beatnick & K-Salaam. The song is ridiculous and assuming your volume is up right now, it’s probably playing on the playlist to your left as you read this.
And just when you thought it was over, Colin and 88-Keys on the remix for “Last Cause”. This is a Myspace exclusive that you can stream at Myspace.com/colinmunroe
Not an actual video for this song but for those of you yet to see Colin Munroe on stage, this is a rare glimpse into how he gets down. Drums, keyboard, vocals, and everything in between. In this particular jam session, he’s singing the “Will I Stay (remix)” with DC rapper Wale.
For one reason or another I never really paid Keri Hilson too much mind. Thought she was just another pretty face rnb chick. But nah, I was wrong. This chick has some substance to her. If you pay the lyrics some mind, you’ll see what I’m talking about. And I like her little dances. Ms.Keri Hilson I apologize for taking so long to notice that you are one SWAGGED OUT LADY.
I apologize for using the S word (swag) in 2009, but that’s the best word I could think of to describe Keri.
