Gimme A Second I Swear!!!! The soundtrack to all things transitionary.Download It Here.

We’re all learning, growing, and changing. While we do this, people doubt us, laugh at us, and some of even try to stop us. Don’t fight them. Don’t argue with them. Don’t even try to prove your point. Just keep doing what you’re doing and tell them to give you a second, soon they shall see.

Disclaimer: Just saying “Gimme A Second I Swear” alone won’t work. You actually have to go out there and use that metaphoric second to become the best you can be.

If you’ve been rocking with me since day 1 you will see the growth on this project. We’ve come such a long way from 2 Sides To A Story, which ironically was released on July 14, 2007. What a difference two years makes. Still a far cry from where I want to be musically but the way is being paved gradually and the journey is quite fun.

If you’re new to Phella music then I hope you listen. If you listen I hope you feel it. If you feel it I hope you share with others so they can feel it as well. I don’t get on the microphone to hear my voice. I have things to say and I try to say them in the most interesting of ways. Some lines and verses will take weeks or months to fully understand while others simply will never be understood. That’s the fun part. That’s how the rap music I grew up on was crafted.

Thanks to J.Rob for tolerating my insanity and lending me his production to put my words to.

Thanks to DJ Laser for his assistance with this project as well overall just being a good dude that breathes this hip-hop culture.

And anyone else who supports my art in any form or fashion, thank you.

We’re only scratching the surface with this project. I can say “we” because for the first time I truly feel like I have a good group of people all striving towards similar goals as I. Give Us A Second, We Swear!

Random Acts Of Randomness

Was chillin in VA for most of today. This is some of what transpired. Not pictured is a basketball game that went down. My victim was a LeBron James fan so naturally the footage dissapeared. Just know that I won and it wasn’t pretty. I’m taking on all challengers in any city in any of the following: Basketball, Skateboarding, Pool, NBA 2K9, and Taboo.

Phree Time!

The EP ‘Gimme A Second I Swear’ produced by J.Rob will be out whenever the mixing and mastering gets done. Left to me I would have put out weeks ago unmixed and unmastered but J.Rob would probably shoot me.

Ouch!!!

Sidebar: I hate lifting weights. No offense to any excessive weightlifters out there, but most dudes that lift excessively tend to be dumb. It’s a simple concept. You’re so overly conscious about how you look in the mirror that you never pay attention to the real things that matter in life. Same applies to chicks who wear excessive make-up. I’m yet to meet one smart one.

I started a new circuit workout last night that doesn’t involve any weights. Just 20 mins and I’m done and I can move on to cardio (running, jump rope, bicycle etc…). That’s where the ouch part comes in. My ankles, knees and just about every other body part are out of commission this morning. Feels good though.

Music Mondays:New Phella *DJ Clue Voice*

Always wanted to hear DJ Clue say “New Phella” with the echo at least once in my lifetime. Unfortunately he doesn’t do tapes anymore. It’s cool, I’ll get over it.

Even though my favorite genre of music is RnB, one thing I like about hip-hop is that you get to watch the progression of artists. With singers the public has no patience to watch them develop. If they don’t come out sounding like Whitney or Luther, people immediately write them off. With rappers like Fabolous, Joe Budden, Lil Wayne, and Lupe Fiasco, I can listen to their mixtape stuff from 6 years ago and compare it to what they release today.

So with that said I’m gonna be doing a lot more freestyles and stuff so I can have an extensive then and now catalog to compare when I get old.

“They say Phell don’t rap, even heard the word “quitter”/I said I went corporate first,it’s called a reverse Jigga”
“When it comes to ladies I like writers in goggles, not aspiring models/the latter only like those who be buying her bottles”

Intuition Or Into Wishing?

Haven’t really had a cause to blog as of recent. My last 1 to 2 weeks have been centered around things that wouldn’t benefit me to talk about them on here, at least not yet. Probably going to be like that for a while but it’s not a sign of depression, distress, or any other kind of problem. A good percentage of it is actually positive. Just some precautionary measures to make sure my year life and multiple careers are headed in the right direction and all potential obstacles are out of the way.

Like whenever things are about to move real fast, I like to slow down and envision how I want stuff to go and what I will do if when they don’t go quite as planned. Some call it intuition, Jay-Z calls it “sort of a premonition”, Magic Johnson described it as “seeing the game in slow motion”, while Michael Jordan concluded that “I saw what would happen before my opponents”. Whether it’s sports, music, business, or what have you;the ability to think ahead but still live in the moment is what makes the greats GREAT.

Sidebar:Took down the top pic because I realized that it was outdated. I don’t really do fitted caps too much anymore, my hair is grown out, my skin isn’t even the same (Winter paleness victim).

Sidebar 2:Might find myself in NY, Philly and Atlanta over the next two to three weeks. I didn’t mention that for any particular reason. Just felt it was noteworthy.

Anyway the real purpose of this entry is to post a few blogs and websites that I frequent and benefit from in one way or another. All these people offer their own unique contributions to society through pictures, music, and written words. There’s a bunch more that I check but these in particular have content that resonates well with me. Might do the same for you too.

Other than that enjoy the “Current Mood Music” off to the right which is now called “Music Of The Moment”. When you call it Current Mood Music and the artist says “I’m about to go do a drive by”, people start thinking every single word represents your thoughts. A lot of times I pick the music based on the emotion of the track, not so much the lyrics. If I want to get lyrics across I’ll post some of my stuff.

It Means Nothing,But It Means Everything

Damn it why Pac died?
No justice for a poet
Guess Janet and Pac lied
I see the risk ahead
But it’s not me to not try
So I run and I sweat
Oblivious to the threat
Don’t know my destination
I didn’t take no Atlas
Not a bump in sight
But I stay proactive
Coldest Winters,Longest Summers
Bank statements with the wrongest numbers
Social network abusers
Show your net worth to amuse them
Fight club watchers
Night club hoppers
Same spandex wearing
Name brand dress wearing
Didn’t come to dance, just glad they staring
“Aint seen you since high school, heard word that you famous”
Nah not quite, that’s just what the company name is
“Well you looking good, how bout number exchanging?”
Well I’m real busy these days but I guess I’ll take it
Role reversal
No rehearsal
I saw this movie coming
No commercials
Ex-neighborhood baller
Transformed to that man
Felt Presidential, but still the pants sagged
My First Lady rocked jeans, while we danced at last

Thank You And You’re Welcome Pt.3

Sorry for no Music Mondays today. Was kind of busy plus this cold is still giving me the business. Speaking of music. This site is very similar to my music career. The masses ain’t caught on yet but those that know, know. I’ll promote the hell out of other people’s stuff but seldom mine..it’s because “I ain’t got nothing but time”. If you know the story of how I got here (as in my conception), you would know why. I touched on it briefly on this old freestyle..shout out to J.Rob

I just digressed severely. What I meant to say was THANKS to all that view this site. My daily unique views have jumped almost 300% this year. That was my whole goal coming in. To reach as many people as possible…and maybe one day get deep comments like this lady gets on her blog.

Weekend in 2009:

Props to the lurkers as well the people who comment on the regular and give feedback on the email.

It’s Friday..Ophh The Wall

It’s Friiiiiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaaay. R.I.P. to David Hanes who passed away a few years ago. He was the radio personality that used to kick off all of our Friday’s down here in DC.

I’m mad confused over what to put in my mood music section. I feel a bunch of moods right now. All good ones though. I just got all this energy recently, I’m just bouncing off the walls…like a young Mike Jack. Hey!! That might be the answer right there.

I put down the Guitar Heros last night and decided to read a couple of books. Blogs and the internet in general are starting to bore me. I have about 4-10 that I check each day because they have fresh thoughts on stuff or because the blogger is witty, original, and stuff like that. Outside of that, how many videos of a girl peeing on the street can you watch? I swear if I lived in a warmer climate I would never be on the web.

Firm Biz was good this week. The key is to grow as a company each and every single week of 2009. My new job as Brand Organizer is basically to come up with ways to add to that growth and also to keep track of it. In other words I’ll be held responsible if you don’t know what The Famous Firm is. So if you see me on top of the White House with an “FF” t-shirt on towards the end of a slow month, you know why.

This weekend I MUST, MUST play basketball. Of all my New Years goals that’s the one I’m yet to fulfill. Well that and checking up on friends, but that was just too unrealistic. It’s too forced and feels fake to all of a sudden start messaging and calling people. Plus I don’t know who is who sometimes. At the end of the day I got love for just about everyone, my current situation just won’t permit me to show it the way some would like.

“For when two beings who are not friends are near each other there is no meeting, and when friends are far apart there is no separation.”

The other day I asked myself “do you even still make music?”. Then I replied myself “hell yeah”. Then I asked myself “so where’s the new material?”. Then I replied myself “ummmmmmmmmmm”. Then I laughed at myself, turned the beat up high and commenced to rhyming. Honestly creating music is my first love and it will never leave me. It’s just the nonsense that comes after it that I hate so much (ie. My name is Phella and I have this really good song that I think your blog viewers might like, you think you can post it?….and they respond ___________________________). To a man with pride one or two of those will make you say “f*ck this, I got better things to do with my time”. But that’s promoting the music. The actual creating and recording aspect is the best feeling on the planet, especially when you’re nice with it…lol. <<<<<<<< fake lol to make me not seem arrogant

This weekend I need to interview two or more famous people for Thank God I’m Famous Magazine. Think Miley Cyrus is available?

Until next week, or until an hour from now when I get bored and need to blog…..I’ll Holla

Been jamming to this since last night when it got leaked. Maybe just because I’m in a party song/hit making type zone this year but this song is so on time. This is vintage Curtis Jackson right here. As a fan I’m always quick to criticize the man for his wack moves (which he’s had a lot recently) so it’s only fair that I give him his props.

P.S. I love how the dudes like T-Pain and 50 who don’t drink or go to clubs make the best songs about drinking and clubbing.

And just for good measure some Curtis, Dre and Slim Shady-Listen/Download Here
