Wow! That is crazy. I'm glad you came out of that alive and only $500 in the hole. Being nice can get you burnt a lot...nothing wrong with being courteous but sometimes you gotta put yourself first ya know.

I feel right at home with this one. I had a similar experience about two weeks ago. It was about 6AM and I was driving from a succesful surprise b-day party. I was dropping off a friend (who was offered another ride home multiple times but decided that they couldn't ride with anyone but me) at a distance much farther than I should've been traveling, considering how tired I was. I must've closed my eyes for no more than five seconds when I felt my car hit the median, sending it swerving back into the street, as I tried to gain control of the wheel & not hit any parked cars. It wasnt until I looked in the rearview mirror and saw the cars behind me almost at a complete stop, that I realized exactly what happened. They must've seen the entire incident go down. Luckily there weren't any cars driving next to me or directly in front or behind. I blew out my two driver-side tires costing me nearly $500 to fix!

The lesson I learned was; stop being so damn nice! Waiting around for people to be courteous after numerous displays of the "kind heart you have" - can get you nowhere - fast. It can also get you a coffin and a beautiful celebration of your homegoing.
