Maaaaaan, Keyshia you know I’m a sucker for a nice smile. Why must you tease me this way? Props to Necole Bitchie on the photos.

Not an actual video for this song but for those of you yet to see Colin Munroe on stage, this is a rare glimpse into how he gets down. Drums, keyboard, vocals, and everything in between. In this particular jam session, he’s singing the “Will I Stay (remix)” with DC rapper Wale.
Enjoy and feel free to put a friend or two on!!!!

Shoutout to the homeboy DJ Laser. He put together this compilation of Joe Budden material called “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Joe Buddens”. Obviously the title is based on the movie “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button” which was an insane film. The tape is insane too. It’s good for Joe Budden fans but even better for folks who aren’t as up on his music as they should be.
Sidenote:Someone tried to put me on to extemporaneous speeches the other day. She felt real special that she was telling me something new. I let her have her moment but honestly, it was the first thing they taught in Mrs.What’s Her Name’s Communication 101 class.
My weekend was a pretty decent one all things considered.
-I regained my touch in pool, I had fallen off recently and was beginning to lose just a bit too much. Once I get in that zone though…GOODNIGHT, thanks for coming, better luck next time.
-I also went DVD shopping and bought nothing but comedies. I have way too many serious movies in my catalog. Everything is some thought provoking drama or mafia movie. It felt good just to laugh and chill. “Hitch”, “Along Came Polly” and “Meet The Fockers” were some of the titles.
-Swore to myself that I’m done with my bakery addiction. It makes no sense to go 21 years without ever drinking or smoking but you can’t say no to a chocolate chip cookie or a blueberry muffin. If not for pastries I would probably be in Spartan-like shape right now. I’m taking it one day at a time though. Hopefully I don’t relapse.
-I got in one of those zones this weekend where I’m ready to make some more changes in my life. I’m never ever satisfied. Happiness is fleeting. You don’t just catch it and hold on to it forever. It’s something you have to work on constantly. Don’t know what’s going to come of the new changes but I just know a couple of adjustments must be made. I’ve been stressed out more days in 2009 than all of 2008 combined.
-I think the cause of that stress is because last year I just worked freely without pressure. This year I’ve put tons and tons of pressure on myself to accomplish certain things in a timely manner. Unfortunately when you’re surrounded by people who don’t share the same “fierce urgency of now” mentality, you have to wait…and wait…and wait some more. In school I was always the person that would do the whole groups work as opposed to risk having some slacker mess it up. Some teachers commended this “go getter” attribute while others encouraged me to “be more of a team player”. I’m still confused till this day.
Sidenote:Michael Jordan once said “there’s no I in team but there is an I in win”
-There’s a good chance I’ll be waving goodbye to DC some time this summer or maybe even sooner.
#1 Reason:I’ve operated from the same 10 mile radius for 12 years straight. If not for the exposure from going to George Mason for those 2 years, I would be an around the way n*gga…we all know how that movie ends.
#2 Reason:Financial.
#3 Reason:Everyone I look up to historically always made their biggest leap career wise after changing settings. Even if it’s just for a year or two.
#4 Reason:Mrs.Phella is somewhere on the road. I’ve always known the final person I would settle with would be from out of town. Just not sure where exactly, but I’ve had the premonition already.
#5 Reason:I’ll be able to play songs like “I’ll Be Gone Till November” and cry.
-I learned something really really insightful and it just escaped my mind as I typed this. See why I like blogging from the phone? It was a gem too that I really wanted to share, oh well..maybe I’ll remember another time.
-In other news, The Famous Firm has a big February in store. January started off very strong and the second month of the year should will be a bigger one. Expect a multitude of surprises.
-If you look to the right of this blog and scroll down a bit, you’ll see I have a CBox now. Basically you can type random short messages and stuff there. I’ll be using that to basically microblog since everyone doesn’t have a twitter.
-Steve Nash got dunked on so bad. My GOD!!!!!! Stop taking charges Steve and move out the way.

Damn it why Pac died?
No justice for a poet
Guess Janet and Pac lied
I see the risk ahead
But it’s not me to not try
So I run and I sweat
Oblivious to the threat
Don’t know my destination
I didn’t take no Atlas
Not a bump in sight
But I stay proactive
Coldest Winters,Longest Summers
Bank statements with the wrongest numbers
Social network abusers
Show your net worth to amuse them
Fight club watchers
Night club hoppers
Same spandex wearing
Name brand dress wearing
Didn’t come to dance, just glad they staring
“Aint seen you since high school, heard word that you famous”
Nah not quite, that’s just what the company name is
“Well you looking good, how bout number exchanging?”
Well I’m real busy these days but I guess I’ll take it
Role reversal
No rehearsal
I saw this movie coming
No commercials

Transformed to that man
Felt Presidential, but still the pants sagged

“Yo I peaced out right after my third semester/then every single day I must have heard a lecture/ain’t no way you gon make it if you don’t go to school/it’s been 6 whole months and we aint seen you on the tube”-Phella “No No No“
Look I have absolutely nothing against people in school. I have nothing against education, as a matter of fact I believe in education more than probably anything else in the world. That’s why I talk/listen so much. I want to let people know what I think and get their thoughts in return. My problem is this notion that college is the “only way” or the “best way”. I think situations should be assessed on an individual basis.
Coming from an African family, this debate over college or no college is a very frequent one. I would really like to know where everyone in the blogosphere stands on this and why. Feel free to email or comment anonymous if you want.
Video was jacked from RealTalkNY by the way.
On a related note, with The Firm we get a ton of inquiries from people wanting to work with us or intern. Most people just submit pages and pages of their resume and what degrees they’ve attained. Unfortunately that doesn’t necessarily speak to what kind of person you are and what kind of character you have. In addition to your scholastic accomplishments please include some general insight about your personality, what motivates you etc…
I don’t really have an angle for this post so I’ll just jump all over the place, bear with me. I just feel like putting something up here since the last post ended on a negative note. I really don’t want to make anyones life difficult but some people won’t let you live……I’m going to liveI am living.
Side note:Guess who was just taught how to strike a word out on html? haha I’m about to OD with it. I am OD’ing with it.
I feel bad about my performance during this inauguration weekend. I should have been way more active and more involved.
*Excuses For Not Partying As Much:Parties were too crowded, lines were extra long when we can’t skip the line, we skip the party.
*Excuses For Leaving The Inauguration Early: I was sleepy. Went straight from a party to a breakfast spot to THE breakfast spot, props to Jabari for putting a dude on to “Steak N Eggs”. From there I get in a line that stretched probably 10-20 miles. Imagine being surrounded by 3 million tourists who don’t understand the act of NOT stepping on your shoes. Imagine 15 degree temperature with no gloves and no scarf (props to the lady who kept giving me her tissues for my nose and the girl who helped me zip my hands inside my coat…2 much black+2 much love=4ever). Imagine taking pictures of monuments that you can see from your house, and then realizing that it makes no sense. Imagine being told that you can see more from the TV set than the people there in person….imagine no cell phone service. Imagine leaving with your frost bitten toes and fingers.
Props to everyone who stayed and thugged it out. I fully understand why. “It’s nobody fault I made the decisions I made, that’s why I’m still paranoid till this day..”-Jay-Z
Speaking of the Jigga man. Man that was too real to see him performing “History” on that stage. Like that’s the stuff movies are made out of. Shout out to Beyonce, Kanye, Usher, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Rihanna and everyone else who pumped life into this town this past weekend. Especially you, Ms.Rosario Dawson who I ran into stalked twice. What a woman.
Mr.Obama I know I’m not saying anything new here but you deserve to be commended a million times. You and you’re family exemplify all that’s good with the world. Struggle, perseverance, faith, hard/smart work and knowing how to handle success. You’re teaching showing men how to be naturally cool again as opposed to forcing. Your wife is showing women how to be strong, determined and beautiful without being bitchy and condescending a tad bit snotty. Your daughters are already serving as role models for their age group as well. Keep it up sir and good luck with the Presidency. 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is a stones throw from where I live. Hit me up for basketball one of these days.
Back to politics as usual now.
