On my way to donate some coats and jackets, then I got to thinking. What was I on back in the day? If you got any funny coats in your history (which we all do) then this is the place to share and/or discuss. My readers are too cool for school so I doubt that’ll happen, so once again I’ll sacrifice myself.

That first leather debauchery was me attempting to get the Jigga look from the “Do It Again (Put Yo Hands Up)” video. The leather plus Yankee hat combo was too ill for me not to imitate. Only problem? We couldn’t afford Avirex or any of the expensive leathers so I took what I had to the arab store and got this disgusting grey leather with a Yankee and some jeans. I think everything came to like $75.
That leather gave me a headache (literally) everytime I wore it. It hand this strong paint smell that would go straight to my head and have me searching for the nearest tylenol.
The second joint was actually not a disaster. I was the first to pull off State Prop. Maybe it’s cuz I wasn’t going for anyone else’s look. I just saw a nice jacket and bought it. Got me plenty of play. Honestly I would still rock it right now if it didn’t say State Property on the outside. These days I like logos to be secret.
I have worse coat skeletons in my closet but I can’t share the rest….no sir.
*Sidebar:From S.Dots, to cheap leathers, to State Propery Jackets; Roc-A-Fella really influenced the hell outta my upbringing. Half of my decisions from age 11-16 where based on what I thought Roc-A-Fella artists would do.

I never really had any wack joints. Never had the super fly joints neither, but no real wack joints.
My fav was in 9th grade I had a grey outside/orange lined platinum fubu bubble joint. But it wasn’t reg bubble material… like a nubuck/suede quality. And it didn’t have Fat Albert plastered all over it. Joint cost me bout $300. And I got it outa town so I was the only 1 w/ it. Lol I miss that joint
Speaking of Jay having an influence over how people dress.. Sean told me that when the black album came out, his whole school wore all black. I love that… didn’t happen in Sudbury, Massachusetts
You could say we all poppin collars and wore polos when Kanye’s album came out but I don’t think we were imitating Rocafella in that situation lol

I didn’t have any fubu jerseys; but I had a lot of football/basketball ones and always was a big rocker of Iverson sneaks…aaaahhh my tomboy days; you’re bringin me back!

All im gonna say is Hot Pink Metallic Guess Jacket (with the skirt to match)…remember when shiny denim was the fad?!?!?!…
Also, I had this cropped leather i bought on Fulton St. in BK for 60 bucks i wore that sh*t OUT!…
O yea, and a Helly Hansen bubble i had in highschool…

Ok I must agree with J. Punch and admit that I did rock the shiny denim haha it was def IN at one point in time…middle school for me..I had a pair of silver ones I remember the most that I rocked every chance I got! lol
Lol and I had a FUBU Jersey..red with the big 05 on the front and the back to be exact
Now coats..there is one now that I look back on that really stands out to me..It was a hot pink like bomber of some sort..except it was made of some cheap wanna be leather , plastic like material..HAHA But i loved it none the less..
oh and I can not forget when Cropped denim jackets were the thing to have..esp with matching jeans…I don’t know if that was everywhere but i remember having more than one and Loving them lol the good ol days
I used to OD love Iverson when he was at Georgetown (with the fade) and when he first got to the 76ers. So I’m with CrysDesi07, I had every single pair of the Iversons, because I worked at Just for Feet.
p.s. Phella, that jersey was a mans jersey lol.
