Soundtrack to this blog-Listen as you read.
Last night someone told me that “change was impossible”, “one person can’t change anything”, the person said “if you can’t beat em join them” and some other negative things I can’t remember.
I just thought to myself “I’m glad I didn’t consult with you 6 months ago, I would have never acheived anything.
6 months ago, on February 11, 2008 I stood in a line for 3 hours in 20 degree temperature to hear Barack Obama deliver one of his infamous speeches. I had watched almost all the ones on TV but I knew that it would be much more effective in person. And it was. That speech was hands down the most inspirational thing that ever happened to me.
Fresh off of my Obama speech I stumbled into an article on HipHopGame (which I checked religiously) that detailed Sickamore’s resignation from Atlantic records and his plans to start up “The Famous Firm”. I took the inspiration from the Obama speech + the content of that article and decided to control my own destiny. Two weeks later on February 25, 2008 I was headed to NY without telling anyone. Just gassed up with my last couple of dollars and went there. I had a meeting with Sickamore and The Famous Firm (in its early stages).
Two weeks after that I was a junior rep for the company, a month after that I was a regional rep, a month after that I was a senior rep and now I Am Phella. This site is going good (thanks to you), youtube.com/firmtv is a fan favorite, the people that I rep on The Firm have developed and experienced success (due mostly to their own hard work),and myspace.com/dafirmsphella is finally on point. Even my music which I rarely mention (perfectionist syndrome) has caught on.
Moral of the story is don’t listen to people. Do what you feel is right and watch the rest fall in line. By the way, the song at the top of this blog was recorded in early 2007..can you say foresight.

Damn P, this is so on point. Sadly, people will go back to that crab in the barrel theory or the “I’m afraid to step out, so let me try and stop you” mentality. Keep doing your thing. All of this from Sri Lanka with 10 minutes of internet time per day…..WOW!!!! I’m ready to start another war, are we going at it over the Olympics? LOL……
You haven’t heard Nasir?? Business was so good in Sri Lanka that we were able to afford boat tickets back to the states.
No more wars until the last war tax is paid..even though the Olympics sounds tempting
